The Design Through Inquiry program supports educators in transforming their classrooms into highly engaging, innovative, and student-centered learning communities through a dual focus of STEM and using design to solve problems identified in students’.

The Design Through Inquiry (DTI) 2-year program includes a blend of both, facilitated professional learning training sessions, and self-guided modules. Participants who successfully complete the facilitated and self-guided trainings and requirements earn eMINTS Certification.

Design Through Inquiry (DTI)
The Design Through Inquiry (DTI) 2-year program includes a blend of both, facilitated professional learning training sessions, and self-guided modules merging STEM and engineering design in a learner-centered environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- The four self-guided modules explore how educators might use Design Challenges, Modeling, and Engineering to engage learners. Each of these self-guided modules are followed with a collaboration session with a training cohort. This series concludes with a session focused on the full Implementation of lessons that include all of the Design Through Inquiry practices presented. These materials are created for individuals or teams to complete.
- The three self-guided modules focus educators on how they will use Design Through Inquiry process to engage learners. Each of these self-guided modules are followed with a Tech Lab independent study and a Critical Friends collaboration session with a training cohort to focus on the design experience they created and implemented, or plan to implement, with learners. These materials are created for individuals or teams to complete.
This program was originally developed through the SEED Grant funded by the federal Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant Program.
