Journey Summary

This session is your chance to delve into global collaboration as a way to provide opportunities for our students to go beyond the classroom and connect with other students, countries, cultures, and experts from around the world. Participating in projects involving others helps students develop communication and collaboration skills as well as have a higher awareness to the world outside of their classroom. Technology makes it easier to connect with others and celebrate the diversity of our world. You will consider the levels of thinking that these kinds of lessons can help learners reach, explore tools for stepping beyond the classroom, and identify potential projects for your class.

Introduction

Global collaboration allows students to reach beyond the classroom. These types of authentic learning experiences engage students in investigating local and global issues while learning from multiple perspectives and developing relationships with a variety of learners and experts. As we expose students to global collaboration, we can help foster a community that is accepting of others.

This module is designed as a “flipped” learning experience. You will complete work both inside and outside of the face-to-face session providing you with the flexibility to learn on your own time and then bring your newfound knowledge to the training session.

During the training session, you will use the information you covered prior to the session to complete hands-on/mind-on activities. After this session, you will use all of your knowledge to create an activity for your classroom that reflects constructivist principles.
